Built in 1699, Middlethorpe Hall is an original William III country house. It has been fully restored and is now carefully decorated with antiques and fine pictures. The gardens and parkland have also been restored and include a white garden, a walled garden, a small lake and some beautiful trees. Now part of the National Trust, all profits of the hotel are donated to the charity.

Leave the A64 at the junction signed A1036 York West and Racecourse. Shortly after the second set of traffic lights, you should move into the right-hand lane of traffic approaching a third set of traffic lights, which will enable you to take what is in effect a right turn signed to Bishopthorpe and Racecourse. In the village take the first left into Church Lane and left again after the church, signed to Middlethorpe, York and Racecourse. After approximately a mile, you will see a sign for crossroads, we are the right-hand turn at this junction
